Welcome to Warren Mill
Est. 1792
Home Page
. . . in charming Scottsville, Virginia, original seat of Albemarle County.  Built in 1792, Warren Mill operated as a gristmill for over 100 years. The Mill is available on an occasional basis concurrent with family vacations. We will be traveling for the week of Thanksgiving, so if you'd like to enjoy this special holiday in a very special place perfectly suited for large family gatherings and great cooking, please contact me as soon as possible. There is a 4 night minimum and the rate is $500/night.
Currently, we are renting the carriage house for single families or married couples. It is a newer structure  built with post and beam which offers 2 bedrooms, a large family room and kitchen, bath, and expansive deck overlooking pasture and waterfall. Whether you are coming for history, wine touring, UVA games, fishing, or canoeing the James River, the Carriage House at Warren Mill offers an idyllic setting. For more information, contact Lisa at lisa@warrenmill.net or 434-286-3629.
You are invited to enjoy a  unique retreat on the banks of Ballenger Creek and the nearby James River.  The 12 acres of this enchanting property include a large meadow, woods, waterfall and your own private swimming hole. Ballenger Creek passes under the historic culvert and empties into the James River, which is a short 5 minute walk from the Mill.  Spend a day on the river tubing, canoeing, or fishing as you completely unwind from your daily cares.
We are now approaching our 5th anniversary of ownership of Warren Mill and have passed the 2nd anniversary of living here full time.
The country is truly a far more peaceful home than was busy Virginia Beach. The animals still bring joy to the children, but there is that nasty business called animal chores which is less desirable. Then, of course, there are occasional mishaps when there are animals around. Currently our year old goat Cinnamon has a cast on from a broken leg!
Our population has changed slightly as our two oldest daughters are both off at college, one in Wyoming and the other in Ohio. As to the animals we now have 3 horses, 3 goats, 3 rabbits, 2 chickens, 2 cats and 1 dog. Our most recent acquisition is Moses the kitten who swam across the creek and climbed into my arms on a lovely May night.
